Editorial Services/Agent services

Want to see your work in print? I can help you do just that. Here's the way it works.

Editorial Services

I will help you edit your poems and prepare them for publication. The cost is $5 per poem. Email me at poet_kelly@yahoo.com for more information.

Email me for info on the cost of editing a book-length poetry manuscript.

Email for info on editing of other pieces as well, including fiction and nonfiction.

Agent Services

It's hard to find an agent that handles poetry because it can be so difficult to publish poetry and even more difficult to get paid for it. Believe me, I know just hard it can be! I now offer the services one would expect from a literary agent.

I'll help you edit and prepare your poem for publication and then submit your work to the appropriate publishers. You will be responsible for paying for postage and printing. For each poem that is published, there will be a charge of $10.00. If you are paid in cash for a poem, there will be an additional fee of 10%.

Email me for info about representing a book of poetry. For books, I generally represent only writers who have been published before, but email me and we'll talk.

Why do you need an agent?

I'm familiar with the various markets for poetry. I know which editors are most likely to accept what sort of work. I know which publications are most likely to accept work from new writers. You could spend years figuring this out for yourself, or you can just hire an agent to do it for you.

Having an agent also spares you the tedious work of preparing and mailing submissions. You don't have to keep track of what gets submitted where and what's going to be published where and whether or not you've been paid yet. It frees you to just focus on your writing.

Does it work?

I asked one of my clients to share his thoughts about that.

Peter Menkin, a successfully published poet, says "With many thanks, I note that Kelly Morris has been energetic, and successful in placing my religious poetry with multiple magazines. And others have them under submission. I am happy to have you represent me, and look forward to hearing from you to learn what is up. So it is with gratitude that this "new" poet makes these remarks."

I can't make you any guarantees, but I don't get paid unless you get published. What do you have to lose?

Email me at poet_kelly@yahoo.com for more information.
